Lambton College's Spring 2002 Continuing Education and Computer Training Centre is now available, filled with hundreds of courses to revitalize your mind.

The college has a host of workshops to celebrate the season, from learning to make twig baskets to planning a gorgeous perennial garden. From drawing to pottery, bartending to motorcycle training, sign language to science, there are workshops and courses to suit every taste.

"We're trying to offer a wide range of quality courses to those people who want to come to the college part-time," said Pat Voegelin, co-ordinator of continuing education.

Lambton College has credit courses for those out of the workforce and looking to upgrade their skills, or those in post-secondary education who may need a couple of courses to finish their diploma.

New this year, the college is offering a one-week Summer School for the Arts, developed in partnership with the Lawrence House Centre for the Arts. From Aug. 12 to 16, five prominent Canadian artists will reveal the secrets of technique to Sarnia-Lambton and area artists.

The college is also expanding its course selection in the areas of health and wellness to meet the needs of an aging population that recognizes the need to look after its own health. Explore your golf game, discover vibrational energy, and understand sleep patterns in some of the courses offered. There are also a range of courses available online.

An online information evening will be held at the college May 9 in Room N107, starting at 7 p.m. Call ahead to register at 519-542-7751.

Lambton College also has a tremendous range of computer programs from novice to expert to the most serious computer aficionado. Whether you want to achieve technical certification, develop a Web site or send e-mail to the grandchildren, the college has a course that's right for you.

"We get a wide range of registrants, from people who want to back up the knowledge they already have with certification or upgrading to those who want to get back into the workforce," said Kim Hunt, co-ordinator of computer training. "The nice thing about our courses is that some of the class sizes are smaller so you get more personalized attention."

Choose from the Information Technology Professional Program, an intense one-year program with numerous certifications, to individual certifications such as Microsoft Office Users Specialist (MOUS), A+ Certification Training Program, Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) or Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE).

Lambton College is now an officially recognized VUE Testing Centre for Information Technology vendor certifications. This new testing centre provides certification and recertification tests, according to testing standards set by leading corporations in the IT industry.

Registration for continuing education and computer training is already underway, and registration for most non-credit classes begin the week of April 29, while most credit classes begin the week of May 6.
