Many of these workshops are conveniently staged by the Vaughan Business Enterprise Centre (VBEC), a collaboration of the municipality, the provincial department of Enterprise, Opportunities and Innovation, and the federal government.
These workshops have included topics such as How to Keep Good Records, Personal vs. Business Issues, Legal and Insurance Issues, Writing a Business Plan, Setting Your Price, Effective Market Research and Creating Your Marketing Strategy.
A new series of workshops begins in October, including seminars on selling techniques, Web site basics, e-commerce, how to get cash for your business and time/stress management.
Weekend and evening workshops include discussions on marketing strategies and networking.
The Chamber of Commerce provides ample opportunities for networking, including a 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner & Dance on Friday, Sept. 27 at La Primavera Banquet Hall & Convention Centre.
The event will honour long-serving members, including Argo Lumber Inc./Alpha Lumber Group, Burrell Overhead Door Limited, CIBC Weston Road, Crown Cork & Seal Canada Inc., Hydro Vaughan Distribution Inc., Modern Caster Inc., Pine View Pontiac Buick Sales Ltd., Raymar Electrical Sales, RBC Financial Group, S.K. Wellman Co. of Canada Ltd., Toromont Cat, York Central Hospital Foundation and Zenith Auto & Truck Collision Ltd.
Anyone wishing to donate an item for the event's silent auction in aid of Hospice Vaughan is invited to contact the chamber office at 905-761-1366.
The chamber has come a long way.
Today, supporting a membership of 700, the staff and volunteers continue to deliver a wide range of activities and services, and remains "The Voice of Business in Vaughan" at all four levels of government.
