The College's Job Connect program helps job seekers to plan their employment path, prepare for employment, and develop the skills necessary for success in the job market. The program also provides placement services for employers and assists them to find suitable candidates to fill job vacancies.
"The award recognizes the efforts of the college's Job Connect program to offer a quality program and the highest level of customer service," said Larry Bouchard, dean, Centre for Community and Workforce Development. "Equally important, it recognizes the important role that the college plays in meeting the educational and employment aspirations of the people in this community as well as the human resources needs of business and industry."
The Minister's Award for Excellence recognizes those agencies that achieve or exceed standards in customer service, effectiveness, and efficiency, and demonstrate the ability to maintain and improve results over time. The agencies are rated based on four measures: planning, resourcing, measuring and communicating, as well as their service results.
Cambrian's bronze level award was presented to the college's Job Connect staff at the Job Connect Managers' Forum in Toronto on Nov. 3. Accepting the award was Ed LeBreton, chair, Job Connect.

Parents of youngsters with learning disabilities will want to attend a free public meeting tonight at the Barrie Campus of Georgian College. The Learning Opportunities Task Force will unveil the results and recommendations stemming from its extensive research into learning disabilities issues and education.
This is the most comprehensive study ever of Ontario students with specific learning disabilities in the post-secondary sector. These results apply to students at all levels, including elementary and secondary schools.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Rowntree Theatre at 1 Georgian Dr.
