Organizer and founder Daniel Levesque says he's always looking for ways to deliver a better event for visitors and exhibitors -- and the Welcoming Zone right at the entrance of the Sept. 27 & 28 Expo is a good example of what he means.
"There will be a lot of information available there for visitors," Levesque says. "There will be large signs and a list of presenters appearing on the central stage area. The entrepreneurship seminars will also be listed, in detail, with pictures of the speakers scheduled to appear. A show guide will be distributed in The Welcoming Zone -- and there's a big floor plan and a list of exhibitors there, too, and staff to answer questions from visitors."
Another improvement comes at the popular -- and free -- Resume Professional Assessment Centre. Levesque says this year, in an effort to keep lineups to a minimum, instead of meeting with resume writers directly, visitors' resumes will be evaluated by Centre professionals and returned to them with a comment sheet offering suggestions on how to get the most from this essential document.
Back at this fall edition as well are private interview rooms allowing employers to speak to prospective employees without the hurly burly of the Expo going on around them.
The twice a year job fair is Ontario's largest and most comprehensive and Levesque expects 9,000 to 11,000 visitors today and tomorrow, and a minimum of 120 exhibitors.
"The show is open to everyone," Levesque says. "This is a job and career fair that will help either the people with a lot of experience who are looking for a career change or looking for a new job -- and also for those who are new graduates who need experience."
The National Job Fair and Training Expo is presented in collaboration with the Toronto Sun, Jobboom and 24 Hours.
Doors open today and tomorrow at 10 a.m.
Admission is $3.50.
