Tiffany Vogel is among top 10 university students in North America, Glamour says.

University of Western Ontario student Tiffany Vogel, 22, was the only Canadian to be named in this year's competition andonly the fifth Canadian to win in its 49-year-history.

"Wondering who the next Hillary, Condoleezza and Oprah will be? You're looking at them!" the magazine says in its October issue, which carries a photograph of the 10 winners of its annual competition.

Previous winners have included Martha Stewart, actress JoBeth Williams, Dallas mayor Laura Miller and Julianne Gallina, the first female brigade commander of the U.S. Naval Academy.

UNIQUE, INSPIRING GOALS

The competition, according to Glamour, recognizes leadership on campus, community involvement, excellence in their field of study, as well as their unique, inspiring goals.

Each winner receives a $2,000 cash prize and is profiled in the magazine.

Vogel, 22, originally from Toronto, is a fourth-year honours chemistry and biochemistry student.

The recognition is only the latest in a string for Vogel, who was selected by Youth in Motion, a nonprofit national organization, as one of Canada's "Top 20 Under 20" for her work in helping students at a London school.

Glamour says Vogel lost her grandmother to skin cancer and decided to become a doctor or a research scientist, rather than a model.
