1. True colours: Research shows that if allowed, the majority of Canadians (60%) would add colour to their workplace if they could. The most desirable colour? Blue.
2. Well read: Wear red when you want to project power or close a deal since red is the colour of courage -- think of what Tiger Woods wears on the final day of most tournaments.
3. Strive for perfection: Research shows using colour reduces errors by 80%. Improperly completed forms and applications can bog down data entry and customer service departments. Highlighting important information and instructions can help customers fill out forms correctly the first time.
4. The personality factor: 45% of Canadians feel they would be more productive if their workplace were more colourful. This figure was highest in Montreal (52%) and Saskatchewan (53%).
5. Make your mark: 58% of Canadians agree that using colour in documents makes an organization look more professional. This figure was highest in Saskatchewan, at 63%.
6. The colour of money: Colour can increase payment response by up to 30%. Highlighting the amount owing and due date with colour adds a sense of urgency to invoices -- helping customers pay their bills faster and improving cash flow.
7. Think green: Buy equipment with recycled and reused parts. Also try to conserve paper by using two-sided printing.
8. Uncover productivity: Re-think the way you work by eliminating hidden productivity issues associated with heavy volumes of paper and electronic documents in the office.
