- Create a topic. What's your area of expertise? Does your new business help people to lose weight, save money, build sales or organize their lives? Focus on what you really do for people to find a compelling and interesting topic.
- Prepare your presentation. Use PowerPoint to create a short, one-hour seminar consisting of about 20 slides. Follow a "Top 1" format to make it easy for people to learn. Put some information about your business on the last slide.
- Find a seminar room. Use your connections to find a suitable venue. Check around for an unused boardroom, training room or staff room. If necessary, book a conference room within a hotel.
- Get a database. Assemble your contacts into a neat e-mail or mail database and issue the invites. Give people at least three weeks notice about your event.
- Follow up. The people who attend your seminar are obviously interested in what you have to say. Follow up with each attendee to start the sales process.
