Deena Brock creates natural skin care products for her clients.

"I had a reaction to traditional skin care products, so I made my own," she says. "My sister later became ill from some of the chemicals in manufactured skin care products, and that really prompted me to create and market a full line of natural skin care solutions."

Based in Huntsville in the beautiful Muskoka region of central Ontario, Brock's six-year-old company is called Rose Petals, visit www.rosepetals.ca.

Her business creates truly natural skin care products from scratch and she serves discriminating clients who want a natural alternative to store-bought products. "We actually custom-blend products to create unique mixtures for our clients," she says.

Brock says she caught the entrepreneurial bug from her parents who also owned a business in Muskoka. "Growing up in a small business environment gave me the drive to become self-employed," she says.

Despite working without one for many years, Brock says she's learned that the real boss is the customer. "You can't please all your customers all the time," she believes. "But you must do your best to please as many as you can!"

She's also learned that an entrepreneur must recognize his or her limits. "I'm not good at everything, so I have learned to delegate by hiring people who can do certain things better than I can.

"To me, that's the only way to achieve business success," she adds.

True to her word, Brock says her future plans include expanding her retail operations, setting up an online shopping cart and "finding someone to look after the wholesale side of the business because it's just not my strength."
