Where to put your priorities

In rough times, if you need help establishing your priorities, your immediate supervisor is the right person to turn to.

“He is the best advised to determine which projects can wait and which are urgent.

Usually, those projects are chosen according to the direct or indirect impact they can have on sales, contracts and customer service,” specifies Sylvie Lepage, a Human Resources advisor, and founder and President of Innovation RH.

Plan your work time

Take the time to organize your schedule. Write in your agenda the deadlines for all your projects. Determine the different tasks you have to accomplish for every project. Plan the activities according to your weekly and daily objectives.

Allow time for emergencies… and for yourself.

Put aside some time in your agenda for emergencies. In times of crisis, you can easily schedule up to thirty minutes every day to manage the unexpected, at the beginning or at the end of your day.

This way, you won’t feel overwhelmed by the end of the week. “Also, it’s crucial to put some time aside to disconnect, like going for a walk outside at lunchtime to take your mind off work”, concludes Mrs Lepage.
